FREE EVENT: Sustainability Seminar for Community Cinemas
Hosted by Moviola, Milland (near Petersfield/Liphook), West Sussex
10.30am – 4.30pm.
Key topics to be covered:
- Identifying local audiences and those who do not currently attend shows.
- The way the local cinema service is marketed.
- The way individual shows are publicised.
- The quality of the cinema experience being offered (especially “Added Value” ideas).
- Additional ways of generating income.
- Broadening the programme to increase its appeal.
- Keeping up volunteer support and finding time to put on additional shows.
- Fitting in the cinema service with the other activities held in the community.
Moviola is a network of 250 community cinemas in a wide variety of settings across England, Wales and Scotland. Partner groups within the network rely on ticket income to cover their costs. Thus building and keeping a good size of audience is therefore critically important.
On the day, we will share the experience of groups inside the Moviola network and further afield who have diversified successfully and attract large audiences (typically in excess of 70). The events will be pitched at a level of direct benefit to community cinema volunteers, with content which is immediately relevant to what they do in their community cinema. i.e. building strategies that work.

Don’t forget: Training and travel bursaries are available for Film Hub South East members.
