Training and Travel Bursaries

The Training & Travel bursaries have been designed to enhance the skills and knowledge base of cultural exhibitors in the South East by supporting members’ access to training courses, special events and film festivals.

Film Hub South East (FHSE) was created as part of the BFI’s 2012 – 2017 Film Forever strategy, which is coming to an end on 31 March 2017. FHSE and the Film Audience Network (FAN) will continue in 2017, however, there will be some changes to our activity as we have a smaller budget than previous years.

The BFI have confirmed a transitional funding period for all the Hubs from 1 April – 31 December 2017 whilst we work towards a development plan to implement our part of the new BFI2022 strategy (including boundary changes that will see the FHSE region incorporate East Anglia). BFI will sign off the 9-month transitional plan in March. Once this has been agreed we will release more information on future opportunities.

The Audience Development Scheme and Travel & Training Bursary scheme are currently closed and we are unable to approve any strategic projects or new activity post March 31st before the plan has been confirmed by the BFI. FHSE has been given guidance to prioritise strategic projects during the transitional phase, therefore we are likely only to have one or two open call opportunities before January 2018. We will continue to have discussions with members to keep the flow of projects alive.

From April onwards, we will be working on plans for FAN 2018-2022, which we hope will bring many news ways for members to get involved. You can read about some of the changes ahead in the BFI2022 Strategy. If you have any questions, please do contact us as normal.
