Nic Roeg’s bold and imaginative cult classic, stars David Bowie as a humanoid alien who comes to Earth because of a drought on his home planet. Bowie – an inspired piece of casting in his feature film debut – plays Thomas Jerome Newton who wants to use his advanced technological gifts to ship water back home but finds himself lost in an unfamiliar, corrupt and sometimes hostile society.
