During summer 2017, Oska Bright Film Festival the leading international festival of films made by, or featuring, people with learning disabilities, will be joining forces on a project with Film Hub South East.
Raising awareness of learning disabilities
Taking place at locations around the South East region between July and September, each event will both raise awareness of audiences with learning disabilities, and work towards improving a venue’s capacity to cater for audience members with enhanced or specific needs.
Tuesday 8 August: Gulbenkian, Canterbury
Tuesday 12 September: Towner, Eastbourne
Training from people with disabilities
Local film exhibitors to the event venues will be invited to learn from an informal two-hour training session, co-delivered by a learning disabled member of the Oska Bright Film Festival team.
Representatives from local learning disabled groups will also be invited to be involved in the session, which will cover marketing to, welcoming, engaging and retaining learning disabled audiences.
Attendees will also see a main feature film, plus a screening of curated shorts made by people with learning disabilities, from Oska Bright Film Festival.
We will be inviting you to your local event, but for more information and to register your interest in either confirmed date, email Annie Mannion.
